What We Do



1. To promote sustainable agriculture


Achieving sustained and inclusive economic growth remains the surest means of eradicating poverty and attaining shared prosperity.

Our objective is to promote inclusive growth through sustainable agriculture integrating three main goals - environment health, economic profitability and social and economic equity.

Relevant focus areas include: Promoting indigenous and sustainable farming practices; boosting agricultural productivity, promoting effective and sustainable water management; protecting threatened species and halting loss of biodiversity; ensuring fair and equitable sharing of the benefits from the utilization of genetic resources; promoting sustainable forest management; slowing, halting and reversing deforestation; restoring degraded forest ecosystems and increasing area of protected forests; securing land and resource tenure;  supporting forest-related employment; ensuring inclusion of indigenous and local communities in decision making and in sharing of benefits derived from forest conservation and sustainable use;  promoting and protecting  traditional knowledge of indigenous peoples.

2. To help reduce the incidence of Child Labour and Child Abuse


The problem of child labour continues to pose a challenge before the nation. We are committed to work towards elimination of such child labour/child abuse, taking proactive steps to tackle this problem along with adopting simultaneously rehabilitative measures.We undertake projects for the elimination and rehabilitation of child labour.

We are dedicated to create a child friendly society, where all children are free from exploitation & receive free and quality education.Our target is to work directly with the children for their empowerment through education, social mobilisation and community participation.

3. To work for reducing the violence against Women


Violence (for ex. dowery, domestic abuse and rapes) against women is a grave issue in our society.We are determined to continue  working  towards  empowering women to fight violence against them especially through rehabilitation and education in self-defence and legal rights.

The objective would be to help and train women especially those from unprivileged background in professions traditionally close to them and help them achieve financial independence.  

Focus would be given to strengthen training and mobilisation programme- regular conducting of training course covering topics such as self-defence, women rights,sexuality and reproductive right, effective communication, grooming and most importantly driving - their future vocation would be the priority areas of our activities.

4. Preventing and combating human trafficking


Trafficking in persons is a serious crime and a grave violation of human rights. Every year, thousands of men, women and children fall into the hands of traffickers, in their own countries and abroad.

SOHAM is, therefore, serious about ending of human trafficking.

SOHAM provides a rapid-response, comprehensive support system (including social services, legal assistance, medical care, housing and outreach services)to the victims of human trafficking while building the capacity of the community to better understand and respond to the needs of trafficked persons.

SOHAM is dedicated to bringing the issue of human trafficking to the forefront of public consciousness through local community action and the sharing of  resources among communities and organizations.
  • By empowering  individual communities to take action through education and the coordination of resources.
  • By creating partnerships of informed communities to share information, experiences and best practices in order to make the work of each partner more effective and to extend efforts beyond local jurisdictions.
  • By supporting primary research and disseminating information.

5. To promote quality of life in tribal and remote areas


SOHAM is determined to promote quality of life in the society especially in marginalised and poor segments. It focuses on advocacy and development issues among tribal communities . It helps tribal groups address problems of land alienation, displacement, and political dis-empowerment. Its mission is to uphold the traditional, constitutional, and human rights of the tribal and downtrodden people and empowering them linking with the main stream through education, training and financial support.

SOHAM is committed not only to enhance the reach of welfare schemes of Government and fill the gap in services deficient tribal and remote areas in sector such as education, health, sanitation, drinking water, agro horticulture productivity, social security etc., but also to ensure delivery of quality services.


6. To promote indigenous therapy


With an object to promote positive health,we continue our effort to sensitize the society towards benefit of traditional Indian holistic health care by Yoga, Ayurveda and Naturopathy etc for the treatment of life style related ailment. 
Our aim is to make the “benefit of traditional Indian holistic health care”closer to the society/ human being to move towards higher ability at physical, mental, social, emotional and spiritual levels.


7. Disaster Management


The compound effects of climate change, environmental and ecological imbalance, growing population and increasing population density, rapid urbanisation, deforestation and desertification seems to be making natural and man-made disaster more frequent and severe at present time.

We are committed to be innovative, routed to the ground and participatory in our approach for successful disaster management.  

Our focus areas of activities are: to strengthen disaster prevention, disaster risk management, disaster awareness and local capacity building, besides relief and reconstruction activities.
